Big Backyard

Blend midwest-emo songwriting with garage rock tones and pop-punk melodies, and you’ll get Big Backyard. Aggressive attitudes, light hearts, can’t lose. You’re gonna want to stay after the credits for these guys.

The project started in a dorm room at UNC Charlotte with roommates Jackson Martin (vocals/guitar) and Ben Scott (drums). Over quarantine they picked up Will Washburn (backing vocals/guitar) to round out their sound.

Big Backyard combines the influences of bands such as Modern Baseball, Remo Drive, Death Cab for Cutie, and Charmer, among others.

Their three-song debut, Music for Your Porch, was released in 2020.
